There are many times of stress in our lives with pressures and obstacles coming from external and internal sources; the stress can even come from past events with lingering negative effects in our present lives. Life can feel overwhelming and leads our body and mind to shut down and/or lash out in various ways. This may take a toll on our daily functioning, school, career, and relationships. As a result, we miss out on the joys of life as we cannot fully experience happiness with the weight of everything we need to get done or everything we need to do to meet everyone’s (even our own) expectations. We then feel anger, fear, anxiety, deep sadness, and more because we are not the person we want to be and we are watching life pass us by.
My passion is for helping people learn, grow, and be healthier in their relationships, mental health, and daily functioning as well as achieve more balanced lives where their wants and needs are fulfilled. I believe in having a collaborative relationship with clients where we work together to help them reach their goals. I take on a teammate mentality where I encourage and support clients as well as challenge and caringly push them to overcome obstacles and break through barriers in order for them to move towards their full potential. I have a genuine, warm, real presence in the room with clients and I provide a safe space where they can process anything without judgment.
The main therapeutic approach I use is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. However, I also use techniques from other evidence-based therapies that match the client’s unique personality and specific needs.
I was born and raised in San Carlos, CA. I attended San Jose State University and graduated with a MS in Clinical Psychology. In the past, I have worked as a therapist at a middle school and in a non-profit setting serving Medi-Cal clients which included adolescents, young adults, adults, and families.
